→ April 2014 Goals

March Goals:
Finish transferring all of my music to my new computer
Yes. Thank goodness! I got it all done before my free trial was up. I transferred my photos as well.

Find my paperwork or request a copy of the inspection paper and refill out the other forms
I went back to Preventative Medicine and got the inspection paper again. I wanted to get all of the paperwork done and handed in to the Housing Office so they can sign off and transfer everything to Legal, but Ryan needed to send the paperwork up his chain of command with a chit just saying that I’m starting my own business. So, the paperwork was sitting in Security (his section) for several days before it bounced back because I didn’t have one of the papers notarized, which I thought would happen once everything got to legal, but apparently not. So we had to go to legal and get it notarized and now it’s all going back up his chain of command. Who knows when I’ll be able to start my business.

→ Practice hooping… a lot
I practiced a bit, but not as much as I would have liked. I get frustrated after a few minutes. Ugh.

Get into a routine
Finally! My therapist wrote his dissertation on sleep, so he knows a whole lot about it. We decided that I would work on Sleep Restriction Therapy and right now we’re finding my optimal sleep time. I’m almost up to nine hours though and if I get there he wants to request a sleep study to make sure everything is okay with me. I’m mostly terrified going out in town and I’m about 100% positive that I would have to go to a doctor’s office out in town for it. Plus, stay overnight hooked up to machines… so… not a fan.

→ Do the stretches from physical therapy every other day (at least)
Nope. Not even once. And I’m sure that all of the pain I have is all my fault cos I should be doing a bunch of stretches that I’m not doing.

April Goals:
→ Participate in Camp NaNoWriMo
I’ve only every done NaNoWriMo, and normally I’m researching a ton instead of actually writing so I’d like to take advantage of the April Camp to do research and then maybe use July’s to accomplish an outline so I can actually write during NaNoWriMo.

→ Practice and master airbrushing and doing makeup
On the 26th, I’m doing my first ever photo shoot as a makeup artist and it’s an all-day event with upwards of 10 models. I’ve never worked on anyone else but myself so it’s definitely going to be outside of my comfort zone. I have two friends that said they’d be guinea pigs, but one is out of the area for the first two weeks at least and the other is super busy with her business. Either way, I should probably at least practice on myself.

→ Do my stretches from physical therapy
I’m in pain and I need to start doing my stretches. Pretty self-explanatory.

→ Clean and organize
My apartment is a mess. On top of that, Ryan and I want to move the cats’ litter box to a closet, move my makeup area into our spare bedroom, clean out and organize our hall closet, put away laundry, and probably a million other things.

→ Finish Crime School
I’m about half way through so it shouldn’t be super difficult to finish.

→ Try out some new baking recipes
If I ever get my paperwork back and where it needs to go, I’d like to have more than a few recipes to rely on. Plus, I need to bake more.

What are your goals for this coming month?

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Swatchfest

L to R: Ophelia, Grandma, Melange, Stalker, Vintage

From the website: OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment – a little goes a very, very long way! An intense yet featherweight layer of color that never looks or feels heavy. Meant to be mixed, Lip Tar comes in concise array of colors for a limitless selection of shades made by you! A simple, elegant formula that contains Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E, OCC Lip Tar feels as good on the lips as it looks!

Please excuse my less-than-perfect swatches; this is my first time! These colors come in a set called the Pro’s Picks Lip Tar Set v1.0 and they can be bought here for $49.00. Lip Tars are also sold individually (with a lip brush) at Sephora or OCC for $18.00 in a few different finishes. I don’t find them to be too drying, but I wouldn’t say that they are hydrating. I would suggest wearing them over a lip balm or lip primer.

All swatches are one coat of lip tar on top of Blistex Medicated Lip Balm.

Can I just say how much I love these?! The pigmentation is out of this freakin’ world and when everyone says a little bit goes a long way, they are not lying. I put a small sized dot (seen in a picture above) on the back of my hand and apply the lip tar with the OCC lip brush and that usually will be enough for a full application.

If I had to pick, I’m pretty sure Melange is my favorite out of this bunch, which is really bizarre because normally I tend to go for pinks/purples/reds.

Oh, and also, these are vegan and cruelty free!

Which one is your favorite?

Have you used Lip Tars before? Do you like them?

Review: Ipsy Glam Bag (May)

Ipsy Glam Bag is a monthly subscription service created by Michelle Phan. For $10 (!!) a month, you will receive a makeup bag, as well as a mix of 5 deluxe samples and full size beauty products. When you join, you take a “beauty quiz” about the types of product you like, your skin tone, type of skin/hair, and so on, so ipsy can send you personalized products.

First off, the package comes in this amazing metallic pink envelope!

ipsy, glam bag, ipsy glam bag, mirabella, lipstick, pacifica, perfume, anastasia, anastasia beverly hills, eyebrows, brow gel, yaby, concealer, zoya, nail lacquer, cosmetics, make up

All of the products are placed in the monthly cosmetics bag (which is the same for everyone each month). You will also get some information on the brands that were involved with that month’s bag with other offers from those brands and possibly a promo code for something extra!

ipsy, glam bag, ipsy glam bag, mirabella, lipstick, pacifica, perfume, anastasia, anastasia beverly hills, eyebrows, brow gel, yaby, concealer, zoya, nail lacquer, cosmetics, make up

These were the products that I received in my Ipsy Glam Bag for May!

First is a Mirabella (full size) lipstick in the shade Posy. It’s a nice cool reddish shade (seen below) that is a bit sheer. It’s not a drying lipstick and has pretty good staying power. There is a slight vanilla scent as well, but it’s definitely not overpowering and you don’t really notice it once it’s on your lips.

Next is a nice sized (full size) Pacifica perfume in Tahitian Gardenia in a roller ball container. I normally don’t wear much perfume; growing up, I was always a Bath & Body Works body spray gal. I had one or two that I really liked as a teenager, but haven’t used any since. The scent Tahitian Gardenia is really nice when it’s in the container, though I found it to be a little intense when I wore it. The site describes it as “reminiscent of Jasmine, Sweet Orange, and Tea Leaves.” It’s nice, but it’s not for me.

I was so excited when I saw the Anastasia Beverly Hills (deluxe sample size) clear brow gel. I had high hopes for it and it definitely did not disappoint. It’s a nice thin brow gel that helps to keep my brows in place and sets my brow powder so it can last all day.

I also got a Yaby concealer refill pan (full size) in buff. I really like how the color works with my skin tone and the product was very nice. Since I work out in the sun, I’ve been getting tanner than normal, so my usual concealers are a bit too light for me now. My one problem with this is that I don’t have a palette to put it in right now, so I have to store it in the plastic container it came in.

Lastly, I received a Zoya nail lacquer (full size) in Gie Gie. It’s a beautiful baby pink with some silver shimmer. I haven’t tried it yet (I know, shame on me!) and I’ve actually never had a Zoya polish. I recently haven’t been putting anything on my nails because of how rough my job is on my nails, but I promise I will wear this soon. It’s a great color!

All in all, I love my Ipsy Glam Bag from May and would for sure recommend this subscription service. On top of it feeling like getting a present every month, it’s a great deal for $10.

Mirabella Lipstick: $22.00

Pacifica Roller Ball Perfume: $12.00

Anastasia Clear Brow Gel (Travel Size estimate): $14.00

Yaby Concealer Refill: $4.85

Zoya Nail Lacquer: $8.00

Total: $60.85

This is my referral link, if you wanna use it! Either way, ipsy Glam Bag is a hit.

Wishlist Vol. 2: Eyeshadow Palettes

Eyeshadow palettes are definitely one of my most coveted makeup items. Those and lip products. These are the palettes that I am currently eyeing.

Meet Matt(e) Nude by theBalm

I’ve been super into matte eyeshadows lately, and this palette is all Matt(e)!

PRO Palette by LORAC

Half matte and half… not, this palette has all the colors that anyone would need for smokey looks for day and night. This is definitely a must-have for people who are building up a collection.

12 Flash Color Case by MAKE UP FOR EVER

I really want this one to use for bases. MUFE has never disappointed me with the pigmentation of their products and I don’t think this palette will be an exception.

Naked Basics Palette by Urban Decay

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my Naked & Naked 2 palettes, but I was a bit sad that there weren’t too many matte options. The Naked Basics palette would surely make a great addition to the Naked & Naked 2 palettes.

Pretty Rebel by Too Faced

Nude colors and mattes are fun and all, but sometimes you just need something that has some exciting colors and Pretty Rebel comes through in that aspect.

Are you wanting any specific eyeshadow palettes or have a palette that you can’t live without? Share it in the comments section!
